Emotional Regulation
Emotional Regulation
Emotional Regulation support helps children recognise their feelings, understand how
emotions affect behaviour, and learn strategies to manage them in a positive way. We often
use the Zones of Regulation framework, which uses colours to help children identify their
level of alertness and emotions.
This approach supports children to build self-awareness, coping skills, and confidence in
everyday situations.
We use Emotional Regulation / Zones of Regulation to support children with:
Understanding emotions and body signals
Managing frustration, worry, or overwhelm
Coping with changes and transitions
Developing calming strategies
Improving focus and readiness to learn
Building confidence and independence
Sessions are practical, engaging, and tailored to each child’s age, needs, and level of
understanding.
