Emotional Regulation

Emotional Regulation

Emotional Regulation support helps children recognise their feelings, understand how
emotions affect behaviour, and learn strategies to manage them in a positive way. We often
use the Zones of Regulation framework, which uses colours to help children identify their
level of alertness and emotions.
This approach supports children to build self-awareness, coping skills, and confidence in
everyday situations.
We use Emotional Regulation / Zones of Regulation to support children with:
 Understanding emotions and body signals

 Managing frustration, worry, or overwhelm
 Coping with changes and transitions
 Developing calming strategies
 Improving focus and readiness to learn
 Building confidence and independence
Sessions are practical, engaging, and tailored to each child’s age, needs, and level of
understanding.
